Road Safety Council Annual Ceremony 2012
Road Safety Council Annual Ceremony 2012 was held by the Road Safety Council on 27 October at G/F, Central Atrium, Olympian City 2, Kowloon.
Chairman of the Road Safety Council, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr TANG Kam-moon, Principal Assistant Secretary of THB, Ms NG Lai-man, Assistant Commissioner for Transport, Mr LEUNG Tak-fai, Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Dr Eric CHENG, MH, OStJ, JP and the ex-Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Mr YU Kam-kee officiated at the ceremony.
In the ceremony, Mr TANG Kam-moon said that Road Safety Council would continue to promote 4 main themes, namely anti-drink driving, anti-drug driving, cycling safety and elderly pedestrian safety. Series of activities had been held by the Council this year through education and publicity to enhance the road safety awareness of the public. He hoped that concerted efforts would be made by everyone so as to take a step closer to the vision of 'Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal".
The activities of the ceremony were entertaining and educational. The road safety symbol “Mr. Egg”, was the main theme of the ceremony. All “Mr Egg” figures which were drawn by primary and secondary school students, designing school students and the elderly earlier, were all exhibited at the venue. Moreover, Ms LEE Wai-sze, Olympic bronze medallist, the celebrity Ms Kandy WONG and 4 local designers were invited by the Council to draw their own “Mr Egg” and all the “Mr Egg” figures were also displayed in the venue which attracted a great public attention.. The celebrities including Ms Kandy WONG, Mr Ryan LAU and Mr Hubert WU were interviewed on the stage and played games with the audience to promote the road safety message to the public and were all well received. Lastly Ms Kandy WONG was appointed as the Road Safety Ambassador. She and her partner Mr Sebastian POON will produce a new road safety vision song for the Council to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Road Safety Council next year in 2013.
