Elderly Road Safety Quiz Final co-organized by RSC and Radio 5 Programme "Together with You"

RSC and Radio 5 Programme "Together with You" co-organized the Elderly Road Safety Quiz with a view to enhancing the awareness of observing traffic rules by the elderly aged 60 or above. The final of the quiz was held at RTHK on 21 Jan. Artistes were invited to cheer the participating teams on and the importance of road safety was promulgated among the elderly through songs, drama and competitions.

The four teams reached the final of the quiz included Sik Sik Yuen Ho Ping Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, Hong Kong Christian Shun Lee Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, H.K.S.K.H. Tseung Kwan O Aged Care Complex and Fung Ying Seen Koon Tai Po Social Centre for the Elderly. Before the start of the quiz, artistes Hu Feng, Xie Xue Xin, Zhu Mimi, Li Longji, Corinna Chamberlain , and Mag Lam together with CIP CHOW Wing-yee of RSU, TBHQ, HKPF and Mr. Ho Chong Yen, Program Director of Radio 5 raised traffic signs to piece together four big words 「出入平安」 to cheer the participating teams on.

Artistes then participated in a competition to find the correct road safety slogans in a box. Road Safety message was promoted among the elderly through different ways during the competition : Corinna Chamberlain and Mag Lam sang the traditional Road Safety Song to remind the elderly to stay alert when crossing the road; Li Longji and Zhu Mimi sang songs and played road safety drama with other artistes. The competition "Listen to Road Safety Carefully" was later participated by the artistes and participating teams to promote road safety tips.

Noi and Lam Lam tested the audience on the knowledge of road safety. The Elderly Road Safety Quiz started in July last year and invited all elderly centres to participate in the quiz in a team of 3 persons. Preliminary quizzes among the randomly selected 32 teams were conducted weekly in the Programme "Together with You". After 28 quizzes, four teams reached the final. Lastly, prizes were presented by CIP CHOW Wing-yee, RSU, TBHQ, HKPF, Dr. Cheng Kam Chung, Chairman of RSCC, Mr. Ho, the Program Director of RTHK5 and Mr. Lu Shi Chang, the deputy Program Director of Radio 5 and the artistes and the quiz ended with laughter.

Sunny Li and Annie Liew were the M.C. of the Elderly Road Safety Quiz Final. Footage of the quiz was broadcast at 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs on 3 Feb in the Programme "Together with You" on Radio 5 and could be retrieved in the website of RTHK.
