2014 Anti-3‘D’ Winter Kick-off Ceremony

With a view to enhancing public awareness on anti-drink & drug driving and driving attentiveness during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Road Safety Council, Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong Police Force and the Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong & Islands) jointly held the “2014 Anti-3‘D’ Winter Kick-off Ceremony” in the evening on 23rd December 2014 at Southorn Playground, Wan Chai, to promote anti-drink & drug driving messages and remind drivers and pedestrians to pay attention when using roads.

The ceremony was officiated by Dr. CHENG Kam-chung, Eric, BBS, MH, OStJ, JP, the Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Mr. CHU Hon-keung, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Hong Kong Island, Mr. LI Po-hung, Harry, Acting Superintendent of Police, Traffic Branch Headquarters, Dr. LIU Kai-ming, Henry, MH, SBStJ, Deputy Commissioner, Operations of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, Mr. LEUNG Ka-keung, Kenneth, Senior Assistant Commissioner of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong & Islands), Ms. LEE Kwun-yee, Kenny, Chairlady of Development, Planning & Transport Committee, Wan Chai District Council, Mr. LO Kam-wah, Norman, MH, JP, General Secretary of Methodist Centre.

The campaign attracted a large turnout from the community to enjoy a rich programme of performances, such as voice mutation, magic and karate shows, while the Police Dog Unit also added colour to the event with live demonstration. The officiating guests hung the charms on the christmas tree to signify the road safety awareness, especially the safety driving manner messages, were well circulated among the community.

After the ceremony, the officiating guests proceeded to bars and restaurants along Lockhart Road to distribute leaflets and souvenirs and reminded the public not to drive after drinking any alcohol or taking drugs. It also added that drivers and pedestrians should be attentive when using the roads to avoid endangering their own lives and other people's, especially during the festive periods. Meanwhile, some members of the public who had consumed alcohol were invited to take the random breath test and they showed great interest in the readings. The Police will continue to combat drink and drug driving through concerted efforts on publicity, education and law enforcement to ensure road safety.
