Before crossing a road

  • Allow more time to reach your destination: Do not rush.
  • Choose the crossing facilities, i.e.: footbridge, pedestrian subway,
    zebra crossing & light signal crossing.
  • Find a safe location to cross the road if no crossing facility is available.
  • Do not climb over/through the kerbside fence/central reserve onto the carriageway.
  • Do not cross - when a vehicle is coming;
  • Do not cross - when the light signal crossing is RED/flashing GREEN;
  • Look RIGHT & LEFT at least twice.
  • NO vehicle/ vehicle STOPPED, then cross.

"Be Alert" when crossing

  • Look and listen to approaching vehicle.
  • Do not RUN.
  • Cross in a straight line.
  • When the light signal crossing is GREEN and start flashing, keep going at a steady
    pace to reach the opposite side of the crossing or a central refuge island.
  • Do not remain on a crossing road longer than is necessary.
  • Follow the direction of a police officer/traffic warden in uniform or school crossing patrol.
