‘Elderly Pedestrian Safety Photo Competition’ Kick-off Ceremony
With the aim of enhancing public awareness on the importance of road safety, as well as to popularize a road safety culture, the Road Safety Council has adopted innovative ideas to promote road safety activities over the years.
Elderly pedestrian is the most vulnerable road user group in traffic accidents. Lately, traffic accidents and casualties involving elderly pedestrians has an upward trend. In order to bring the issue of elderly pedestrian safety to the attention of the general public, the Council has organized the ‘Elderly Pedestrian Safety Photo Competition’.
The Kick-off Ceremony for the competition was held at Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill on 3rd July 2011. Attendance was encouraged to participate in the competition. During the ceremony, Dr Eric CHENG MH, JP, Chairman of Road Safety Campaign Committee, said the Council hoped the competition would help the general public in realizing the importance of road safety to the elderly. He also appealed them to remind their friends and members of families to ‘Love yourself, love your family, be a smart pedestrian’.
