About Road Safety Council

Our Profile

The Road Safety Council (the Council), as the leading authority in co-ordinating road safety measures since 1983, is committed to reducing the number and severity of traffic accidents. It also works proactively to create road safety initiatives and introduce education programmes targeted at vulnerable population groups.

The Council is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) and consists of representatives of seven Government Bureaux and Departments, as well as six Non-Governmental Organisations associated closely with road safety. It has two sub-committees – the Road Safety Campaign Committee and the Road Safety Research Committee. The Road Safety Campaign Committee is supported by Road Safety Publicity Strategy Group and another working group which is to prepare the Council's Annual Report.
