You and your passenger are more vulnerable than other drivers and passengers, you do not have the protection given to them by their vehicles and seat belts which you have to make up by the use of your skills.

- Use brightly coloured & approved protective helmets.
- Wear brightly coloured protective clothing and/or reflective vest.
- Ride at a speed that will allow you to deal with the unexpected and allow you to slow down or stop.
- Ensure speed is appropriate to negotiate bends without losing control, taking account of road surface conditions.
- Anticipate hazards, which may be concealed by the bend, and be able to stop in time to avoid them.
- Be as visible as possible to other drivers.The simple fact is that motorcycles are smaller than motor vehicles and are not as easily seen on the roads as other vehicles.
- Be aware of oncoming vehicles, which may turn right across your path.
- Motorcyclists should turn on the main headlamps of their motorcycles at all times while driving.
